Shimizu Traditional Clothes - KIMONO
Beginning, I'll introduce to you about the KIMONO history easily.
Today's KIMONO was based about 600 years ago called the Muromachi age.
The established age was about 400 years ago called the Azuchi and Muromachi age.
KIMONO was formal wear in 100 years ago called the Meiji age.
But now most of Japanese usually wear the Western style one. Because we think
the Stile is easy to move and wear, you know, for us though KIMONO is the traditional one.
Anyway, most young people cannot wear the KIMONO by oneself. Neither do I.
However, we put on the KIMONO if we have the special events like the New Year,
The coming of Age Day and so on.
Well, please enjoy the KIMONO presentation now!

Next, introduce their KIMONO, which they wear in English or Japanese. (1 minute)
1. THUMUGI and KOMON
2. THUKESAGE and HOUMONGI
3. IROMUJI and HAKAMA
4. FURISODE and TOMESODE
5. KIMONO for children (We show KIMONO for boys and girls.)

[Quiz]
What is this??? (Showing the OBIMAKURA to them.)

Dear All,
It was an exciting conference yesterday, wasn't it?
Mothers here were so glad to hear that you evaluated their presentation high. It was good chance for us too to learn Kimono which is usually not at handy, but for special occasions by professional Kimono dressers.
I hope you enjoyed it and we enjoyed your MuMu. Unfortunately we linked by 64 kbits and not good enough quality to watch them in detail. It will be nice both PTA groups keep planning together for more Teleclass.
Oh, I had not realized which side worked dialing all at the end. So I asked KDD Telephone Company and found out: time for conference: 79.20 minutes from Japan to PeaceSat cost \15206 six times of test call from Japan to PeaceSat : \3152 All together \18358 will be payed by Simize Elementary PTA group members. Actually they earned this money by making pretty items to sell and holding a bazar the other day. Nice Job!
* I hope PeaceSat will cover some cost of testing the case your side initiated the calls.
* Here is the list of participants of Hawaii side which Edith gave me by her call the previous night. Please add or correct real participants names during the conference.
Group leader : Ms Yoneko Edmondson , Mr.Micheal Otami, Ms Joselin Ige-dannelly, Mr.Jeffrey Roesener, Mrs.Marlene Roesner, Ms Melanie Ishihara, Ms Caren Noda, Ms Toshiko Uehara, guest Ms Kyoko Hijirida (University of Hawaii)
I heard the names of Sharrene Yamada, Debbie Nakamoto, Diane Higo, Kiki, so forth during introduction period. We can send you our participants if you need.
* One press news paper reported this conference with a picture on it. I have not seen it yet, but will see it soon.
It will be possible to scan this news paper article and send it to you by file later.
Thank you again for your cooperation!! Yoko

Dear All,
I 'm very happy to share wonderful time with all of you between Hawaii and Osaka. Thank all of you for creating such a wonderful connection. Everything I experienced on Dec 2 (Japan time) were exciting.
Before the connection, everyone in Shimizu was nervous, worried about our poor English speaking ability. All of us didn't know what we could do at our own time (at kimono show time). We had one minute to show our own kimonos. We didn't know how to show or explain ours. Takamori-san had been worried about the connection until everything ended up.
On the very connection, ---what a nice surprise! Every Shimizu members create their own time nicely, appealing themselves beautifully. Some of them explained their kimono in Japanese. Some did in English. Some illustrated with a board. It was an unexpected wonderful connection for me and of course for Shimizu mothers. Everyone did well. I am thankful to Takamori-san for her great efforts. And I am very pleased that Takamori-san will arrange more connections with you, Hawaii mothers, if you are interested in another connection with us. I hope you will be.
After the connection, all of Shimizu members went back home happily with "satisfaction"as a souvenir. What a nice connection we could create, working together! And how small the world is !
I hope we will see you soon and share wonderful time again.
Thanks all of you, again.
Yoko Takaya
