Kenya is famous for wild animals like elephants and giraffes, but most of the children there have never seen those animals. They have never visited the nearby cities, either. Cars are not common and gas prices is more expensive than in Japan. The children there had never seen foreign people before we visited last summer. They wrote that they were very surprised to see Japanese people, so much that it was as if their eyes had popped out from their sockets. They had been away from anything of the outside world for a long time, but at last, they had a chance to open a window to the wider world. They are looking forward to exchange programs with Minato JHS students.
